Valentine’s Day is just a few days away so I thought I’d get an early start and talk about passion. I’ve always struggled with finding a single passion for pursuing and mastering. I envied the doctor or dancer who had a clear path to follow. My passions are discovering new activities, people, places, art, and teaching. Now I have found a way to combine all of those.
I’ve always been a writer of kinds. I was the geeky girl who lived for English Literature class in high school. I had teachers who came to class dressed as Shakespearean characters or spent a week walking the halls with a big red “A” on their shirt (“The Scarlet Letter”). I turned in extra-credit poetry, lyrics, and essays without being asked. I have written a tremendous amount for all of my leadership and coaching positions over the years. I used my words to build up my workplaces culture and inspire others to act. I have always wanted to share my writing with others outside of work, and like so many people, I have dreamed of being an author.
I have created this blog to quelch my hankerings and live my splendid and brave life. Let me tell you that it is a beautiful and terrifying thing to put your authentic self in writing and share it openly. It is like falling in love and hoping that your heart’s desire will love you in return. My dear reader, you are my secret Valentine. Thank you for joining me on this quest to live brave.
