This past Saturday was delightful. It was the type of day that weaves itself into the fabric of our family tapestry. Robert and I sincerely enjoy spending time with our family and friends laughing and telling stories.
My oldest daughter Brianna and her husband Matt came out to our house in the suburbs for the day. Robert was on route home from a week’s long business trip. Matt hit the golf course for a while. Brianna and I had big plans to bake, but we both decided that we were too tired. We found comfortable spots on the couch and watched the Broadway Musical “She Loves Me” together using my subscription to BroadwayHD.
My Mom came over after Robert arrived home. Brianna and I cooked dinner for the family. Brianna made fabulous lamb chops and roasted potatoes, and I was on sous chef duty with the Arugula Salad and homemade dressing. If you haven’t tried Ina Garten’s salad dressing recipes, I highly recommend them. I was also on bartending duty as the drink of the night for the ladies was a Dirty Martini, one of my specialties. We played show tunes on the stereo and sang along while we prepared our meal. In other words, we were also the entertainment.
After dinner, the guys set out to watch a bit of March Madness Basketball, and then the rest of us played Monopoly and Rumicube. It felt like a genuine stay-cation kind of day at our house with family, food, fun and a laid-back atmosphere. I hope there is more of this magic in my near future.
