Day 6 of the Live Your Legend Blog Challenge and the writing prompt is: “what difference do you want to make?” My primary desire is to have a positive impact on others by supporting their personal growth or providing an opportunity that did not exist for them previously. My personal obstacle is narrowing down how, where and with which assembly should I focus my intentions on.
Real estate agent coaching seems like it should be the natural fit. I’ve already been engaged and very successful in my local market. I enjoy this and I’m very good in this arena. However, I’m feeling a bit of “been there, done that” when I think of this as my main focus.
When I view my personal struggles of being a caregiver for two special needs children and an aging parent I see great voids in our systems, services and communities and I’m drawn to be a part of solutions. This feels incredibly daunting. It is such a pervasive issue. How does one person make a difference? I do feel strongly that there are too many unheard voices in our world. It would be incredible to be a part of giving them a platform to be heard.
Tucked away is my spiritual self. She has been trying to re-enter the world over the last few years. For many years I enjoyed working with energy, healing, meditation and hypnotherapy. I even operated my own hypnotherapy practice thirty years ago where I fostered well-being, weight loss, smoking cessation, and personal growth. This part of me is going to find a way to express itself again more openly and actively. It may be through art, yoga, writing or ministering. This blog is probably the infant stage of this respective personal growth.
Gene Roddenberry, television producer and writer of Star Trek fame, said “writing takes you into a confrontation of self.” Today is day six and I will continue to explore my confrontation of self beyond this challenge. I’m sure it will lead to awareness or at the very least a television situation comedy.
