When you have young children, life suddenly changes at the end of each May. School is out, and summer vacation begins, adding seven more hours of direct supervision of my dear little one. We are on vacation in lovely Cape San Blas, Florida sandwiched between the Gulf of Mexico and the pristine St. Joe Bay. Keeping Luke busy is always a workout, but we get to expand our options out here.
Here is a taste of what we did today:
Rescued Luke from the third-floor balcony after he accidentally locked himself outside
Stopped by Salinas Park and watched the fish swim at the end of the dock
Climbed a tower overlooking Saint Joeseph’s Bay Buffer Preserve
Spied birds and boats on the bay
Talked to the friendly fishing folks at Half Hitch
Wandered through a Goodwill store
Bought a digital camera for $10 at a pawn shop
Took a walking photography tour
Visited a cemetery dating to 1840
Went fishing on the jetty
Saw a bobcat and a large variety of other wildlife
The cable company came over to repair the internet signal
The UPS guy delivered a new mattress and sets of sheets
Set up the new mattress and washed the sheets
Cooked, stayed on my meal plan, and maintained sanity
Every day is a new adventure when we have the chance to play outdoors. While I’m on vacation, I plan on posting some typical family escape pictures, sunset cocktails, meals, new places, funny stories, and maybe a few tidbits that would entice you to visit this corner of the world.
If I find a quiet moment, I’ll share some of my more zen and reflective thoughts with you. These are most often inspired when I’m walking the beach early in the morning or otherwise admiring the natural beauty here on Cape San Blas. I also dived headfirst into the Keto Lifestyle Diet. Keto is a low-carb, high-fat, moderate protein meal plan. This is my second try at this and I’m having greater success thanks to some additional education. Check out Ketokarma.com or pick up a copy of Simply Keto by Suzanne Ryan for more information on Keto. To go along with this I’m reading Dr. Whitne Bowe’s book The Beauty of Dirty Skin.
Cheers to Summer!
