This week has been dedicated to working behind the scenes on my blog correcting codes, adding plugins, and eternally chatting with the helpdesk across the globe. It has also delayed what I truly wanted to be doing, writing a new post. Then I was reminded of a passage I heard from Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear. She said, “Done is better than good.” Meaning, get off your “arse” and get it done, even if it isn’t going to be exactly what you wanted. Here it is late in the day and I have a date in twenty minutes, but I did not want to let the week come to a close without sharing something on my blog.
I am forcing myself to move beyond my perfection seeking and put something out that there that I haven’t had the time to polish, and find the right photos, or add the right links. It is dirty work, but it is also empowering. It feels great to know that I will have added something new to the blog this week even if it isn’t a life-changing entry. It feels liberating to “just do it”.
Interestingly, the other day when I was out for my morning walk I had a fun idea for an Instagram post using quotes from some of my favorite Broadway Shows. Maybe it was just a precursor for tonight. So here is my Eleven O’clock number:
It may not be good, but it is done.
