It takes audacity to write and share your words with the world. It takes the same boldness to change your personal story. We experience swift judgment by people we know and some we have never met on a daily basis. The noise gets inside our head and clatters around causing things like confusion and procrastination.
One of my favorite authors, Sark, says we can administer a healing tonic when we “practice detaching from what people think and turn squarely and fully towards what you think.
Dare to be seen as flawed.” This idea sounds both freeing and fretful to me in a realm of political correctness. I am often searching for that place in between, I care about what you think, and I don’t give a rat’s behind about it. How do you begin to detach yourself from the controlling viewpoint of others? I assert that we must seek out our beliefs, our desires, our talents, and acknowledge our value in the world.
It might feel as if you do this every day when you post your status on social media or share your Instagram story. Maybe you left an emotionally charged comment on Twitter. Isn’t that showing the world what you believe? You might be participating in a global platform and casting judgment, you might just be caught up in a frenzy, or perpetuating a belief that no longer benefits your life.
How do you know the difference? When you are authentic, it will be easier to leave the people, places, and things that are not lifting you up and allowing you to share your gifts. It won’t be about winning and losing, or making a point. It will be about choosing to nurture your body, mind, and spirit.
Nurture your brave life. Read, talk, listen, journal and seek clarity on the things that are most important to you. Begin to weave them into your story every day. Share your experience with others. Your narrative matters.
